FAQ

Does SideScribe work offline?

Yes! The built-in tools (summarize, word stats, find/replace, keywords) all work without internet. If you want AI features, you can run Ollama locally on your computer for free.

Is my data safe?

By default, everything stays on your device. If you connect an AI provider like OpenAI, only the text you send gets processed. Nothing is stored on our servers.

Which AI provider should I choose?

Start with the free built-in tools. If you want AI, try Ollama (free, runs on your PC) or Google Gemini (free tier available). For the best results, OpenAI or Anthropic Claude are excellent.

Do I need an API key?

No. SideScribe works great without any API key. The built-in tools and Ollama are completely free. Only cloud AI providers require an API key.
